J. W. Hill & Associates is located in Live Oak, a town in Suwannee County in North Central Florida. John worked for J. L. Todd Auction Company of Rome, Georgia as area sales representative in North Florida before founding J. W. Hill & Associates in January of 2001. 

John is a native Suwannee 'County-ian.' After graduating from Branford High School, he attended Florida State University and graduated in 1973 with a degree in industrial engineering. From there he entered the army as a commissioned officer. He graduated with honors from Infantry Officer's Basic & Advanced, Airborne, Ranger, Military Instructors School, and Flight School. He served as a platoon leader, company executive officer, company commander and an offensive tactics instructor at the U. S. Army Infantry School in Ft. Benning, Georgia. He is also a licensed teacher for the State of Florida and taught Industrial Engineering & Drafting at Suwannee High School. 

Other credits include: graduate of Ford Marketing Institute, the Florida Real Estate Institute, and the Florida Auctioneer Academy. He is an active member of National Auctioneers Association, the Lake City Board of Realtors/North Florida Multiple Listing Services, the Suwannee County Chamber of Commerce, President of Kiwanis Club, the Suwannee High School Bulldog Boosters, and a partner in the Florida Commercial Brokers Network. John is also the official auctioneer in this area for The United Way and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. John is married to Karen Ives Hill, who teaches at Five Points Elementary School in Lake City, FL. Their three children Misty, Jonathon, and Susan are active members of First Baptist Church of Live Oak.

John specializes in Auctions and the sale of commercial properties, large-acre tracts, including hunting/recreation properties, timber properties, farms & ranches, and the procurement and assembly of development properties.
